Pichvai Of Dwarkadesh In A Painted Pavilion

The Dwarkadesh form of Srinathji, as shown here, has been worshipped in a haveli in the village of Kankroli near Nathdwara since 1720. This embodies a Vishnu avatar with four arms, each representing a moment from a romantic episode with Radha: the lower right hand holds a lotus - Radha's palm - pushing Krishna's hand away from her eyes. The upper right hand carries a Gada or mace - her hand - moving up his body to embrace him. The upper left hand holds a Chakra or disc, marking the impressions left by her bracelets through the embrace. And the lower left hand carries a Shankha or conch shell - her neck - as he closes her eyes with his palms.
